Spiral Diner in Dallas, TX

Last, but certainly not least, our final stop before arriving in Austin to live, was Dallas, Texas. Now, I’ve never really been a fan of Dallas. I’ve never really felt it had much to offer me. I heard rumors of an all vegan diner in Dallas when I was just a vegetarian living in Houston, though I could never seem to justify a 4 hour drive for a place I knew nothing about. So I took this oppertunity to go check it out, years later.

Oh man, was this place awesome! EVERYTHING was vegan. I always get stoked in 100% vegan places, because I know I can have ANYTHING I want, which is unusual. I ordered the patty melt and a shake, and they were so delicious. the shake was topped with soy whipped cream, which, if my tastebuds serve me right… i think it was soyatoo. I’m not really a fan of the soy whip, but the shake was awesome. I got cookies n cream, and Vic got one with peanut butter in it (the name was something like “librarian”?). It was awesome. I hate when he chooses things that I like more than what I ordered. haha! I hate when places like this don’t serve fries, though. sometimes I just want to be unhealthy (ok, most of the time) and get fries with my sandwich! :( It was cool that they had potato salad, but I wasn’t really a fan of it, here.

I think I’ll be finding more excuses to go back to Dallas, now…

just a quick comment on “horse drawn carriage rides in new orleans”. as a new orleans native, i highly recommend seeing the french quarter atop a mule driven carriage. No horses are hurt by this age old form of transportation in the qurarter. Which is if i may remind you less than one mile by onle mile square (well almost square.) Having supported the local business industry less than three days ago, I am here to report that i have never seen a happier mule. Her name was Charmaine by the way. She was thrilled to get her carrot, both a reward and snack, immediately after her quick loop around the block.

and a side note to your vegan life style. Have you ever heard of the term food chain? We humans are at the top of it. Eating meat is the natural order of life. maybe not for herbivores because their place is low on the food chain so we can eat them. Why do you have sharp canine teeth, huh? a real vegan would have them removed.

ps the best poboy at Verti Marte (which fyi is undergoing major renovation post devastating fire) is the Philly Cheese Steak. Since its name steak is one of your favorite cities to visit, you should know that this nola original blows that cheese wiz shit out the fucking water.

    ML,

I respect your right to voice your opinion, but I disagree. Also, sad to hear about verti mart; they seem to have a good thing going for them (Nice people). Hopefully they recover quickly.
