seam ripper + sushi

victorseam ripper

I love that picture of Vic. So, I got a new tattoo (Mom, please don’t kill me…). It’s a seam ripper, because I’ve wanted a sewing tattoo for a while, and this idea popped in my head a few months ago. I love the artwork so much (Thank you Tom @ Classic Electric!), and i like the fact that a seam ripper is used to rip out stitches when you make mistakes, and the tattoo says “no regrets”. My original idea was to have the seam ripper broken in half, but turned out that it looked better in one piece. I love it.

I’ve been eating a lot more asian food lately. I figured out how to make my own sushi finally, with the help of my friend Pang’s advice, and the PPK video about sushi! I started off buying everything from our local grocery store, but it was kind of pricey since it was in the ’specialty’ isle. I found a sweet coffee roastery in greencastle (Greencastle coffee roasters) and lucky enough, they have a little asian market inside (i think the owners are asian?) that has everything i need for way cheaper. My first roll was a bit too big, but my second attempt was pretty decent:
my second attempt at sushi
I even tried an inside out roll (where the rice is on the outside), because that’s how my favorite roll(asparagus!) is made by the sushi place we ususally go to. I just used veganaise instead of mayo. I’ve also been on the search to put together a recipe for bahn mi chay (vietnamese tofu sandwich), but i’ll elaborate on that after a trial run.

old lockers -> bookshelf

locker bookshelf

We found an old set of gym lockers at a place called Bill’s Other Yard Sale about three weeks ago. They were a bit on the pricey side, but we figured they were unique enough (i dont know where else i would come across these…) to purchase. we needed a bookshelf, and when we came across these lockers, it just seemed like a neat way to re-use these. we cleaned it up, and painted the insides of the lockers bright colors like pink, teal, yellow, & black… and left some of them unpainted. then, we filled it up with videos, games, books, etc… and voila! new bookshelf. I think it’s pretty unique.

i’m not dead!

soo much has happened since i last wrote, so I might make multiple posts! If so, sorry for clogging your feeds! :(

i went back to texas at the end of february, for my brothers wedding. it was short & sweet (i only spent two days there). they had these really cool things to eat called potato martinis, which was basically just mashed potatoes served in a martini glass. i just bought some plastic martini glasses from target (for serving, since I don’t drink and vic is straight edge), so perhaps i’ll have my own rendition of vegan potato martinis! anyways, on to the pictures!
